Claims on technical assets turn on engineering questions: what failed, why, how far the damage extends, what it costs to reinstate, and whether anyone else is responsible. Answering those properly requires someone who can read the plant, not only the policy.

How this service is delivered

Loss adjusting is a licensed activity in the UAE. ITMAD provides the technical investigation and assessment; where formal loss adjusting is required, it is delivered through a licensed partner and the adjuster's appointment sits with them.

That division reflects where the difficulty actually lies. Establishing the failure mechanism on a burnt-out transformer, a cracked pressure vessel or a collapsed structure is an engineering exercise, and it is the part of a technical claim most often handled thinly — which is what produces disputed settlements and reopened files.

What we establish

  • Cause of lossThe failure mechanism and the sequence of events that produced it, on evidence rather than on the insured's account of it.
  • Extent of damageWhat is actually damaged, separated from what was already degraded before the event — usually the point on which the settlement turns.
  • QuantumCost of reinstatement or repair, assessed against realistic scope and current costs rather than against the first quotation obtained.
  • Business interruptionWhere cover extends to it, the technical basis for downtime — equipment lead times, repair sequence and realistic return-to-service dates.
  • Recovery positionWhether a third party's act, product or workmanship contributed, and what evidence would support subrogation.
  • Policy-relevant technical factsMaintenance history, operating conditions and compliance status, reported factually so the coverage position can be determined by those responsible for it.

Attending early

The evidence available in the first days is not available later. Damaged components get cleared, sites get made safe, and repairs begin under commercial pressure. Early attendance preserves the physical evidence, records the scene, and secures failed components before they are scrapped — which is what makes a defensible finding possible weeks later when the position is challenged.

Claim types

  • Machinery breakdown and plant failure
  • Property damage, fire and explosion
  • Construction and erection all risks
  • Marine, cargo and transit losses
  • Electrical and electronic equipment
  • Business interruption arising from technical loss
  • Product liability and defect claims

Reporting

  • Interim report where an early indication is needed for reserving
  • Circumstances of the loss and the evidence examined
  • Technical findings on cause and extent, with photographic support
  • Assessed quantum with the basis and assumptions stated
  • Recovery position and what would be needed to pursue it
  • Clear separation between what the evidence establishes and what remains uncertain
  • Reporting in the format the instructing insurer or broker uses

Independence

ITMAD is an accredited inspection body and holds no interest in the settlement. We do not carry out the repairs we assess, supply replacement equipment, broker insurance, or act on a contingent basis. The technical finding is reported as found, including where it does not assist the party instructing us.
